2 seats left for tomorrow's afternoon session
a one-day workshop with the true mirror and its creator, john walter
in plain sight
for people who are done fixing themselves and want to see, for once, who is actually there.
sound, breath, a little movement, some writing, good food, and a few minutes in front of a mirror that shows you the way everyone else sees you. it takes minutes. people talk about it for years.
saturday, october 3, 2026
two ways to come an afternoon session for 10 people, or an evening open house for 24.
see both events and pricesyou probably already know this about yourself
- you have a practice. maybe it's meditation at 6 am, maybe it's the grass mat under your desk, maybe it's alternate nostril breathing in the car before you walk in. you know how to come back to yourself.
- you've read the books, gone to therapy, retreated, met your inner child. you're not looking for one more thing to heal.
- you'll say yes to the head spa, the sound bath, the strange thing your friend swears by. you're curious. you like finding out for yourself.
- you know the present moment is the only place you're alive. and you still spend an astonishing amount of time rehearsing the future and revisiting the past.
- and you have never, not once, seen your own face the way anyone looking at you sees it. a regular mirror can't show you that. you've probably just never thought about it.
how much more time do you want to spend trying to be who you already are?
none of that is a problem to solve.
there are just some things you cannot see from where you're standing. you might be closer than you appear to be.
maybe you've done enough
- there's something missing in me
- i'll feel better once i've healed a little more
- if i just understood my past better i'd finally be present
- no pain no gain
- there must be something i'm not seeing
there are entire industries built on you believing you're a project.
you're not.
there is no one else for you to become.
maybe it's time to actually meet the person who's been here the whole time.
what this is not
"can't i just flip a selfie?"
no. and everyone who's tried says the same thing.
a flipped photo is flat, frozen and a second old. the True Mirror is optical, not digital. you are looking at yourself, live, unreversed, with your own eyes making contact. the difference is the whole point, and it's why John has spent decades building them instead of an app.
"is this going to be a group cry?"
nope, nobody is going to ask you to unpack anything.
this is not group therapy, group healing, or trauma work. it is a few hours of giving your body a chance to arrive before your mind decides what's happening with people who want the same thing, and then one quiet, private encounter with your own face. what you choose to share or do with it afterward is yours.
"i've done the stare-at-yourself-in-the-mirror thing. it was awful."
so have i. this is not that.
that exercise puts you in front of a reversed image with no preparation and no guide. here you arrive regulated, you go in when you're ready, and John Walter, who built the first True Mirror in 1982 and has sat with over 20,000 people in front of one, is next to you the whole time.
you may be closer than you appear
hi, i'm andrea
i've spent three decades paying attention to what happens when people feel seen
i've studied and taught yoga over 20 years, and led experiences for a long time. one thing keeps getting my attention: something shifts when someone is witnessed without being fixed, interpreted, or asked to become anything else.
so when i learned that there was a mirror that lets you see yourself without the reversal, i wanted to know what might happen if we built an experience around that.
not a workshop about you. a workshop with you.
and this is john
john walter, creator of the true mirror
john walter has been bringing this concept to the public since 1992, showing the mirror itself to more than 30,000 people. he's been featured in more than 70 major media spots, installed his mirrors in more than 30 museums, and sold more than 5000 true mirrors into 40 countries. he cleared his schedule to be here on october 3 because he wants to work with people who will actually sit with it. that's you.
you don't walk in off the street and look in the mirror. everything before it is there to get you ready to actually see what's in it;
the passage
-
01
the before
settle in with a sound experience, intentional breathing, some reflecting on how you see yourself, and give your attention a place to land.
-
02
the mirror
one at a time, in private, a few minutes in front of the True Mirror with John Walter beside you. no audience. no performance. no unpacking. you'll then have the chance to sit with yourself in the mirror on your own; this is at your discretion.
-
03
the after
enjoy canapés of your choice from Mugsy's, Point Pleasant, followed by reflecting on your experience with questions designed to lead you where you need to go.
-
04
the closing
an opportunity to share if inspired, and a closing dance together in front of the True Mirror, so you can see your whole body and witness your own aliveness.
don't take my word for it
john walter on why the mirror you've used your whole life has been lying to you.

"what an amazing way to view yourself. thank you so much."
— tine"truly eye opening."
— tadianca, solarbeatz"the energy is definitely so flat in a regular mirror. it holds less communication than the true mirror. i absolutely love it and can't wait to incorporate it in the work i do with others."

Hello, World!
this is for you if
- you're curious about who you are and you'd rather find out than read about it
- you have some kind of practice, and you know the present moment is the only place to be
- you can sit in a room with strangers for a couple of hours without needing to perform
- you like an experience that leaves you saying "well, that was something"
- you can spend an afternoon on yourself without apologizing for it
this is not for you if
- you're looking for group therapy, group healing, or somewhere to process the past
- you want someone to tell you what's wrong with you and how to fix it
- you plan to leave after the sound part
- you think $149 for an afternoon like this is a lot. it isn't, and i don't want to convince you of that
- you need to know in advance exactly what you're going to feel
what you actually want to know
is this therapy?
no. it's an experience, not a clinical treatment. if you're in active crisis, this isn't the right day for you, please reach out to a professional instead.
what if i cry, or don't feel anything at all?
both happen. both are fine. nothing is required of you here.
can i come alone?
most people do.
what should i wear?
whatever you'd wear to yoga. comfortable, nothing you need to think about.
is there parking?
yes, free, on site.
what if i need to cancel?
transfers to a future date are welcome. no refunds.
who is john walter, really?
he discovered the true mirror effect in 1982 and founded the true mirror company in 1992. he's spent the decades since showing people their own unreversed face, often for the first time in their lives.
